Asthma Clinic
All of our Nurses hold weekly clinics for patients with Asthma & COPD. We encourage all patients to attend these appointments so that we can ensure your Asthma or COPD is well controlled and that you are on the most effective treatment. Our nurses attend regular training sessions to maintain and expand their expertise in the treatment and management of respiratory diseases.
Cervical Smear Tests
Available to all women aged 25 and over and usually performed by the practice nurses. Smear tests are normally carried out every three years but the frequency can be lesser or greater than this depending how old you are. Liquid Based Cytology (LBC) has now been in use for several years and reduces the likliness of having to repeat the test.
NHS Health Checks
These Health Checks conducted by the practice nurses are for both men and women and are for patients between the ages of 40 & 74 years of age. The Health Check is designed to look at your risk of developing heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease and how, by taking early action now you can improve your health and can prevent the onset of these conditions.
Family Planning Advice
Is provided by all of the doctors and nurses at the practice and covers advice and provision of the range of contraceptive alternatives available. Practice Nurse Cyndie has undertaken enhanced training in Family Planning and is able to offer specialist advice and services for Long Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC). Child Health Checks & Immunisations
These are provided at regular intervals by the doctors, health visitors and the practice nurse. The screening checks monitor growth, development and the wellbeing of children. It is very important for children to be immunised against childhood ilnesses. If you have any questions about immunisations, please discuss them with your doctor
Travel Vaccinations
These need to be booked well in advance. It may be necesary to commence the course of vaccination two months before travel. There may be a charge for some vaccines
Flu Vaccines
Flu vaccinations are usually given anually in the autumn to those groups of patients who may be at risk, such as the elderly or those suffering from heart or chest conditions. If you feel that you need a flu vaccination, please discuss it with your doctor.
Antenatal Clinic
These are conducted every week by the midwife. Pregnant wom
en are seen at regular intervals leading up to the birth.
Diabetic Clinic
These are carried out by the doctor and practice nurse at regular intervals with diabetic patients in order to prevent long term complications of the illness
Minor Surgery
Certain minor surgery clinics are held monthly. These are usually to treat warts or varuccas that have not responded to treatment from remedies purchased from the pharmacy. The affected areas are treated by Cryotherapy (freezing) which is not recommended for very young children as in some cases it can be painful. We are unable to add anyone into the cryo clinic whose treatment has nott been cleared by their GP first.
